Pivia was an up-and-coming start-up with a 1.0 product when they hired me as a consultant. They wanted to grow the product but their existing user interface was constraining and they had a lot of usability problems.
I'm not quite sure how this happened but in late 2003, I got hooked on the idea of building my own Tivo. Maybe it was the idea of being able to customize the TV experience or maybe I was just being cheap and didn't want to pay the $12.95 for the Tivo subscription.
